Places to stay in Egypt – During my pilgrimage trip in Egypt, I had the chance to stay in 3 hotels in 3 different areas. All of the 3 areas have different surrounding and feel. I also spent only one night on each hotel, so sometimes I didn’t get a chance to explore much, and sometimes I just didn’t remember to take photos haha. I didn’t have a plan to make this blog post about stay in Egypt, but anyway, here are the 3 places to stay in Egypt.
Stay in Giza
Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel and Spa was my first stay in Egypt. Le Meridien Pyramids is located in Giza area of Egypt. If you came to this hotel in the evening, just like I did, you might wonder why they put the word ‘Pyramids’ at the name of the hotel. But you will get the answer in the morning haha.
I came to this place in the evening after dinner, so I just grabbed my bags and walked directly to my room as I was already tired. My room was waaayyy in the back side of the hotel, and the felt like forever — I was too tired, I guess. However, then I realized that there was a shortcut to the lobby. Somehow I just used the nearest elevator to my room, and there’s an access to the swimming pool. The swimming pool is just besides the restaurant and then the lobby haha.
Now the reason why I walked to the lobby area in the evening, was because … I was looking for Wi-Fi connection haha. Yes, the free Wi-Fi is only available at the lobby area, and you know that it’s rare that the lobby has the working desk (not the low table) to work.
The thing that I love from this hotel was the view when I walked pass the swimming pool to the restaurant in the morning. I got the answer, why this hotel used the word ‘Pyramids’. Yeap, I could see 2 pyramids from the swimming pool area. It looks quite close too! The hotel also has something like the ‘viewing point’ of the pyramids near the entrance of the hotel. Well, of course, it will look bigger from this point.
Talking about the room, I stayed in the typical deluxe room. Everything was there, and the bed was comfortable too.
Anyway, have you stayed in this place before? Or perhaps you have other recommendation of where to stay in Giza?

Stay in Sharm El Sheikh
The second night in Egypt, we moved to a completely different area. It’s the Sharm El-Sheikh area. The Sharm El-Sheikh doesn’t have the city feel with its skyscraper buildings. Sharm El-Sheikh is more like an upscale area with resorts. And my second stay in Egypt was at Island View Resorts.
I arrived here again in the evening. It’s quite late actually, but I managed to have dinner first, before I headed to the room. I didn’t take photos of the food, as it’s quite late, and I was hungry too. What I remembered that the food tasted good and I was full and happy after the dinner haha.
Talking about the food, this Island View Resort has plenty of good food. And it was served in a buffet style at their restaurant! When I talked about good food, it meant burger steak, salmon, some traditional food, some pastry, free flow soft drinks, and more! See, I didn’t take any photos of the food! I was just eating, eating, and eating haha!
I can say that Island View Resort is my favourite stay in Egypt. It’s a resort with many villa houses that contain several rooms. It has several swimming pool, but the most important thing is … It has access to the beach!
Island View Resort is located at the Sharks Bay, which is part of Gulf of Aqaba, and Gulf of Aqaba is part of the Red Sea! I didn’t see this when I came in to the resorts. When I explored more of the resort in the morning, and walked to the back side of the resort to follow the direction to the ‘beach’, then I got this beautiful view of the beach. It was a hot day, so there are plenty of shades or cabana on the beach.
If you see the picture above, you can see that from the sandy beach to the sea, there is some distance. It is the coral. That’s why they have set small jetty, so you can just walk to the end of the jetty, and jump to the sea for snorkeling! Sadly, I did not have much time to do this as we only spent one night here, and had to leave the place after we had lunch at this place.
There is Wi-Fi in this resort, but the coverage was not that good, as the Wi-Fi came from one of the café inside this resort. Luckily I still get a few bars of the Wi-Fi! Haha.
Anyway, have you stayed in this place before? Or perhaps you have other recommendation of where to stay in Sharm El Sheikh?

Stay in St. Catherine, Sinai
On the last night in Egypt, we went to St. Caherine in Sinai area. As this was part of the pilgrimage trip, Sinai is one of the destination, as this is the place where Moses received the 10 commandments from God at Mount Sinai.
There are a few places in St. Catherine as the base for people who want to hike to Mount Sinai, and one of them is Catherine Plaza Hotel, which made this as my third stay in Egypt. Catherine Plaza Hotel is a decent hotel to stay and quite a favourite place to stay in this area too. I saw many people came to stay in this place. Not much to say for this one, as it was a very short stay. However, it has a wonderful view in the morning. I could see that this place is actually surrounded by several hills, and the sky was blue.
Besides the accommodation, there are also some souvenir shops in the hotel complex, where you can also try and buy the Bedouin traditional cloth there.
If you are looking for Wi-Fi, it is available in the lobby only, but you need to pay for the Wi-Fi.
Anyway, have you stayed in this place before? Or perhaps you have other recommendation of where to stay in St. Catherine?
