Mananga Aba beach was my first beach in Sumba – well although technically, I visited Waikelo Beach first on my first day in Sumba. However due to the high tide at Waikelo Beach at that time and we could not walk down to the beach, we then decided to visit Pantai Mananga Aba [or some people say it as ‘Pantai Kita’].
Although this Sumba trip, I was accompanied with my friend, Halim – who also a travel blogger, he only arrived in Sumba on the next day after my arrival in Sumba. That’s why, Sinthya decided to accompany me on my first day.
To go there, Sinthya asked her friend to take us to Pantai Mananga Aba using motorcycle. As there was only one friend of Sinthya that was available at that time, so we needed an extra motorbike for me. So we hailed an ojek or a motorbike taxi!
It took us around 30 minutes to reach Pantai Mananga Aba. Most of the road was already in the good condition, and then continued with the dirt road when we were already near the beach. I thought the place would have something like a restaurant or accommodation near the beach, but apparently there was only one building, owned by Rotary Club, on that area. I guess it will be used only for their event [or perhaps hotel for the public?]. The place was quiet and it seemed that there were only us in that beach, and there was not much to do in that beach, besides taking pictures as much as we could and waited for the sunset. It was not an exact ‘sunset beach’ as the sun set on our left, but that was okay I guess. We did actually have some fun at that time. We, of course, did the ‘jump shoot’ on the beach too … 😉

Well, we got to do the ‘jumping shot’ on the beach! – at Mananga Aba beach [Sumba Barat Daya – Indonesia]
