This Karimunjawa Trip was a 2-Day and 1-Night trip.
Before I move on, I’m just wondering …
Have anyone heard about this place before?
Karimunjawa is part of Central Java province. It consists of 27 islands. It’s a place where you can go for snorkeling, diving, or even swim with sharks … errr … Haha, I’ll explain later in this post 🙂
My trip was started from Tanjung Emas port, Semarang, but you also have a choice to go there from Jepara. We went to the islands by boat. The journey to the main island of Karimunjawa took about 4 hours.
We stayed at Karimunjawa inn. The place is not that close to the port, but they’ve already prepared cars to pick up the guests.
After arrived at the inn, the hotel already prepared the lunch for us, so we had lunch first before we started our activity …
Our first destination was Cemara Besar Island. This was our first destination for snorkelling.
I was hesitate at the moment, but seeing the sea, it seemed I just want to jump and swim! Err .. wait … swim … ?? Well, okay I admit, I’m not a good swimmer at that time 😛 , but I still brought the swimwear with me haha …
Life jacket – check
Swim wear – check
Goggle – check
Fin – check
And I’m ready for snorkelling … and of course, I asked the guide to help me and well … guide me! So I will not get lost in the sea 😀
Too bad, I didn’t have an underwater camera 🙁
[A friend of mine (that I met in the boat) said that you can actually use a regular pocket camera, and then wrap it with a waterproof plastic]
Snorkeling for the first time was quite thrilling!
First, again … I couldn’t swim that well …
Second, I couldn’t step on the floor of the sea … lol
Third, I needed to always breathe using my mouth, and not from my nose … (You need to get use to it first before you start snorkelling).
I did 2 rounds of snorkelling …
The 2nd round was much better, I mean less scare haha, and hey we found Nemo 🙂
Actually after snorkelling, our schedule was to view sunset from one of the islands, but then we decided to just go back to the main island, and view the sunset from there 🙂
After having dinner at the inn, some of us decided to go around the city square ~ it looks like a big field (we called it ‘alun-alun’). The driver said usually the people gather there to watch a movie using ‘layar tancap’ – it’s when they set the screen on a field and the people sitting on the grass or on the mat to watch the movie.
The driver also brought us to a place where we could buy souvenirs … There’re some stores at the location, where we could find T-Shirts, art stuffs, and typical food from Karimunjawa
The next day, we went to several places …
It was different with the previous day, where we started snorkelling from the beach. This time we should jump straight from the boat to the sea haha. Anyway, it’s not that deep, because you can still see the corals from the boat … 😀
Btw, do you have that feeling, when you really need to jump, but you’re quite scare to jump. I felt that too lol. It seemed that I needed to gather all of my guts to jump … But, anyway … I jumped haha. Again, I did the snorkeling with the guide 😀
There’s other activity for other people who didn’t want to do snorkelling. They’ve already prepared a glass-bottom boat, so when you’re on board you could see the sea from through the glass at the bottom of the boat 🙂
Next destination was shark breeding place. They have two areas for it, one is for the white shark, then the other one is for the black shark. And yes, as I told you before, you can swim with the sharks 🙂 or … perhaps you can just walk inside the pool because it’s not deep. Don’t worry with the sharks, they are tame …
So why they have a shark breeding?
They said, it’s for the SeaWorld Indonesia, which is located in Ancol – North Jakarta.
So when the shark is getting bigger and has reached the adult age, they will send the shark to SeaWorld 🙂
This shark breeding place was our last schedule on the second day in Karimunjawa trip. And, yes … it’s our last activity in Karimunjawa … There’s no activity tomorrow because we needed to leave after we had the breakfast.
Sad … sad … should go back there and need to stay more than 1 night. We only visited a few island from total 27 islands. And of course, I should take swimming course haha! (diving course is even better :D).
