Remember during the first day of my stay in Sumba, myself and my friend, Sinthya visited Waikelo beach, but then we saw that the tide was high. It also happened on my second visit to Waekelo with Halim to that beach, which the tide was high too.
Before I bade farewell to Sumba, Sinthya told me to visit this beach once again, and also to catch the sunset from there. Unfortunately, Halim needed to fly back home that day, so I only went there with Sinthya.
Luckily on my third visit there, the tide was low, and I could walk down to the beach. The Waikelo beach is different with other beach in Sumba, as they put some barrier blocks on the beach to prevent the wave from eroding the land.
Here are some photos from the beach, including some photos of the beautiful sunset from Waikelo beach … 🙂 …Then Sinthya said that we should visit the old pier, which is quite near to Waikelo beach.
Have you read my post about the new pier that supposed to replace the old pier? Well, because of the vicious wave destroyed the new pier, finally they use the old pier again.
In this pier, I could see a few ships, and the name of one of the boats was ‘Surya Papua’. Sinthya who spent a few years in Papua dragged me to beside that boat, and told me to take her picture beside it. Haha. …This was my last day in Sumba before I flew back home the next day.
It was a wonderful 10-day trip in Sumba, and I would love to go back to Sumba and explore some areas that I have never gone too 🙂
