Usually when I visit Bogor, I always stayed at the city center, not far from the mall haha! But for an escape from daily routines, I think it’s best to choose to stay a bit further, so it will be less crowded and less polluted also. I just got a chance to stay at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis that sits on a 450-hectare area in Bogor. It’s not just an ordinary luxury hotel, but it also owns an 18-hole golf course. I also heard that Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis proudly holds a 5-star status, and is the first 5-star hotel in Bogor area.
A glimpse of Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis
Once I entered the complex of Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis, I immediately fell in love with this place. The architect for this property is Hadiprana, who is one of the most famous interior design in Indonesia. The design and the architecture of this place looks so much attractive. Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis has the minimalistic design that takes square shape on most of the building’s design, plus applying the simple monochromatic colour. Who doesn’t fall in love immediately?
The main building, which is the place where you arrived, hosts some sections from the hotel reception, the Executive Lounge, the Breeze Lounge, and the LL One restaurant. The hotel reception and the Breeze Lounge are the semi-outdoor room, where you can feel the breeze and coolness of the weather during the evening. Meanwhile, the Executive Lounge and the LL One have also the air-conditioning indoor section. The Executive Lounge can be accessed if you stay at the Suite and above rooms. You can take food and drinks freely in this lounge. From the Executive Lounge, you can see that Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis is surrounded by a lush greenery, which makes you feel that you really escape your daily hectic urban life.
While you are lounging at The Breeze, you can have the 180-degrees view of the inside of Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis. It’s like a big garden with swimming pools at the centre of your view, while on the left you can see that there’s another restaurant called FIRE, and on the right side is the hotel building. This view will look good, when they turn on the lights during the evening.
The comfy rooms
The Deluxe Twin-Bed room
During my stay at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis, I stayed at the Deluxe Room with twin-bed. This hotel has several types of room, from Deluxe Room, Executive Deluxe, Studio, Executive Studio, Junior Suite, and the last one is the Royal Suite. The rooms also have 2 kind of views, the inside of the complex and the view of the vast area of trees. My view was the former one, as I stayed at Room 316, but I don’t mind as I still look at the lovely design of the building and the garden. Oh, and each room has its own balcony, so in the morning I could just go out and sit on the chair at the balcony while sipping tea.
As I walked into the room, one thing that caught my eyes immediately is the bathroom. I mean not what is inside the bathroom, but the partition between the bathroom and the room itself. It is not a concrete wall, but instead they use a see-through glass haha! Luckily it has a pull-down curtain, so if you are too shy, well, you can just pull the curtain down. However, the bathroom with the see-through glass actually looks elegant!
And if you still considering working while you are in this hotel, then you don’t need to worry as there is a working desk inside the room, with plenty of electric sockets. Even, there are some more addition of USB ports for charging, which became useful as I brought my camera and handphones plus my powerbank haha!
The Royal Suite
No, I didn’t stay at the The Royal Suite at that time haha, but I did visit the room for a sneak peek. Who knows someday I will stay at this room.
The size of The Royal Suite seems like 2 Deluxe Rooms merged into one, as it just looks like an apartment unit. It has the spacious living room with its comfortable couch and lazy chair, then next to it there is a dining table plus the kitchen, and the next room is the bedroom.
Still remember that the bathroom with the see-through glass at the Deluxe Room. Well, in this Royal Suite, the bathroom is just next to the bedroom with no partition at all. The border can be seen by the different style of the flooring. The bedroom area is using the wooden flooring, while the bathroom is using the granite tiles.
I really love the bathroom at the Royal Suite! This bathroom surely looks elegant, with a freestanding white bathtub. Just a few steps from the bathtub, there is this twin-conjoint washbasin complete with toiletries on it with a wide mirror installed on the wall. If you are wondering, where’s the toilet, it’s there in the bathroom area, but it’s inside a small room 😊
I said earlier that each room has a balcony, including The Royal Suite room. As this room located at the corner top floor of the hotel building facing the vast area of the trees, you can imagine how beautiful the view will look like. From the balcony of The Royal Suite room, you could also see the Zen Deck.
What is the Zen Deck? The Zen Deck has some purposes. First it can be used as the place for the yoga class. It can be also used as the wedding chapel. Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis will add some chairs and some necessary wedding accessories.
Gunung Geulis Cottage
If you are traveling in big group, you might want to consider staying in a villa or cottage. Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis also managed a cottage type of accommodation called Gunung Geulis Cottage. By staying at the cottage, you can also park your car beside the cottage, as there is a parking spot.
The number of rooms in each of the cottage is vary, starting from 1 room in a cottage up to 6 rooms in a cottage. If you book the 6-room cottage, then you are booking to a 2-story house. It’s just like a house, means it has kitchen too, although you can also order a pizza for delivery from FIRE restaurant at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis.
Keep healthy while on a holiday
Staying at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis seems like I just wanted to laze around on bed or enjoying the weather, but we actually can still be healthy while we are staying at this place. Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis has several sport activities that you can do here.
Playing golf at the 18-hole golf course
Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis is also a golf resort, which means it has a golf course. Currently, there is only one golf course located on the west side of the property, and soon they will open another 18-hole golf course in December 2017.
The golf course is not located within the hotel area, and I needed to ride a buggy to its golf course when I was invited to look at it. An 18-hole golf course is absolutely a wide area to cover in a short time, so I only visited one hole with the flagstick.
Here’s the price list for golfing at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis (per 1 April 2017):
Stretch and relax your body and by doing yoga at the Zen Deck
Every 6AM there is a yoga class held at the Zen Deck. Zen Deck is totally the right place to do yoga as it is surrounded by nature. It’s really refreshing and relaxing doing yoga at the outdoor place like Zen Deck, as the weather is cool and no pollution, so it’s really fresh.
There is a yoga mat available at Zen Deck.
Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis has three swimming pools. From the Breeze Lounge, you can actually look at the two swimming pools, where one of them (the right one) is positioned a bit higher. At this pool, you can do your laps back and forth, and the depth of the pool is about 1.2 meter, while at the pool on the left is more like a swimming pool for the family 😃 . So where is the third pool? The third pool is more like the kid’s pool, just behind the swimming pool for the family. The kid’s pool is equipped with a slider, so it will become more fun for the kids to play-play at this pool.
So far, what do you think of this place? 😊
Well, if you asked me, I would love to have an escape and stay at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis again in the future 😊
