On our second day, after saying good morning to Kalong Island and then of course a good bye, we then departed to Padar Island …
When I browsed the Instagram with the hashtag ‘#Padar’, I saw some similar photos of 3 beaches with the curved shape, but what I did not know, to be on that point, I should challenge my physical condition haha!
The trip from Kalong to Padar took about 2 hours. I thought I could stay awake during this 2 hours trip, but my eyes were so heavy, that I finally decided to just lay myself on my bed. The weather was cool during the morning, especially as the boat go, then you can feel the wind entered from the door at my room and exited to a window.
After a good 2 hours sleep, the captain woke us up, and told us that our breakfast was ready, and we should get ready as we would reach Padar soon.
Well, you know, it’s quite hard to just wake yourself up, especially the weather really supports you to go back to sleep.
Then I saw this …
The view of a white-greyish cliff, which a different scenery with what I saw on the previous day during the sailing trip. Usually the island will be consist of a green hill, but this one, looks like something ‘cut’ some part of the hill.
I remember when I had a trip to Great Ocean Road, where I could see the Twelve Apostles ‘standing’ separated from the main island … That’s because of the erosion by the waves … And it took years for the waves to slowly ‘cut’ the island from below …
Well … that’s what I learned from a tour to Great Ocean Road lol (which remind me that I have not posted about that … gheez!).
Anyway … back to Padar Island.
I still remember what the captain said the day before, about me doing climbing / hiking. And he explicitly said that today, my physical condition will be tested! Whooshhh …
We finally arrived at Padar Island … and as it was still morning, so the tide was low, and the boat could not reach to the shore.
Luckily, there’s another boat that has a canoe, so the crew kindly enough took us to the shore!
Well, as always … From below, everything will look easy! Am I right?
I was tempted to just stay and relax at the beach (which I think, I will do it next time) – as the water was calm and the weather was not that hot in the morning haha!
But … I had to climb and take the ‘same’ pictures with everyone else at the top of the hill!!!!!!!!!
The picture that will show three beaches with the curved shape! Hah!
This time, the captain accompanied us to the top, as I think he knew that the hill was quite tough for a city boy like me haha …
I successfully walked up the first hill from the beach … but to be on that same spot with the one on the photo, it was still a long way to go, dude!
After the first hike, the terrain was ascending, but still manageable and not that steep.
Then the scenery on my right tempted me to just go down the hill and ‘taste’ a pink beach on my right!
Nope … I had to go up! Haha … (do you feel that I put ‘haha’ too much? Haha)
But look at this …
I did not see the end of this trail … loll
We should start this trekking a bit early, because at that time, the sun was already quite high that would shine bright on your left side haha.
I think if I wore a better sandals or shoes, I would less worry when climb up and down, but at that time, even though I wore mountain sandals, but the quality was not good anymore … So my worries were:
- The slippery terrain – because it was dry and sandy (is that the correct term? Hmm)
- Uneven terrain – of course, it’s a hill not a paved road! lol
- Bad mountain sandals
And finally after a very exhausted climb, I managed to what I said, the second hike … where I could already see 2 beaches clearly, but … I could not see the third (the farthest) beach very clearly. That’s why … we needed to climb up more … Holy molly!
Going up, the track became like a rocky terrain, where I need to step carefully on each rock to get to the higher ground!
And voila, I managed to be on a higher spot!
I think I lost my breath and sweating so much at this point … And I could finish a bottle of mineral water at that time! Thankfully the water was still cool … Love cool water on a hot weather!
If I am not mistaken, we needed to really climb up again to get to the top of the hill! (I lost count on how many climbs to the higher ground we did lol)
Well, if you realize … The view will be the same … That 3 beaches again and again … even though, you climb up to the top haha! I just wanted to challenge myself …
Anyway, at this point you will know that the 3 beaches are the first beach that we stepped the first time when we arrived at Padar Island, the pink beach on the right side when we did the trekking, and the other beach.
Can you believe … that on the top of the hill, there is another terrain and track to the next hill – which probably, you could see the other side of the island … (As I said ‘which probably’ means that I did not do it! Haha).
Going up was challenging, and going down was another challenge … And my captain moved faster than both of us, even though he only wore Swallow slippers! Yikes! He even ran down the hill … Somehow, I felt, that the best way to do it, rather than worrying that I will slip or fall! I did ran a bit … but not all the time …
And when I touched my feet on the beach … I felt so much relief that I have done this challenging hike haha!
Wow what a morning … It’s truly not an ordinary morning that I usually have in the city!
And although Padar gave me a hard morning, somehow, I fell in love with this place!!
A truly beautiful place!
