A memorable stay in Dusit Thani Manila, Philippines

Sawadika!

A lady greeted myself and my travel buddy, Kania Kismadi, when we reached the 17th floor, which is the top floor of the Dusit Thani Manila. The 17th floor is reserved for the Club Lounge that is just recently opened, and no wonder that it becomes the biggest Club Lounge in Manila as it is occupied 900sqm or the entire floor!

We had a great chance to experience staying in Club Executive Suite in Dusit Thani Manila for two nights.

As the guests of the Club Executive Suite, we were escorted from the lobby hotel to the 17th floor to do the check-in. We had the privilege to do our check-in and check-out process in the same floor as the Club Lounge. The staffs are all very friendly and helpful!

There are plenty of privilege that we can get as the guests of the Club Executive Suite, not just the easy check-in and check-out. We could also have our breakfast in the Club Lounge, where there’s not much guests on the floor, plus all-day snacks and refreshments, also evening cocktails and canapes! So after we finished the check-in process, we stayed in the Club Lounge for a while to check what cakes that they served. I so love when there are so many small small cakes that are being served in front of my eyes!

Do you think 900sqm is too big for the Club Lounge to have a dining hall only? Well, that’s because they also have a private dining area, a library, a silence room, and a small outdoor area in the Club Lounge. I really like the library that they have. It’s a small room, with few sofas, and surrounded with beautiful stand lamps.

Okay, now let’s go to my room in Club Executive Suite on the 16th floor, shall we 😉

To access the 16th floor and above, we need to insert the access card in the elevator.

My room and Kania’s are in the different area although we’re still on the same floor. I will post the link of her blog post about her room later here, so we could see the difference 🙂

The room in Club Executive Suite is bigger than the regular room as it has many sections. The first room that I saw after I opened the door is the living room, where there are comfortable sofa with the table in the middle and also the working area. Not to mention, there’s also an LCD TV in this area. To my surprise, they have also provide some cakes and fruits on the table. Nice, isn’t it?!

This living room was indeed gave me another surprise when I saw an open folder with some paper in it on the working desk. On the left side of the folder is the paper listing out all of the benefits as the guest in Club Executive Suite, while on the right side are the things that for work and correspondence (if needed) with my name written on the paper:

Timothy Pawiro
In Residence

Although I didn’t use this at this visit, it’s really a double nice for me! Dusit Thani Manila has thought the needs of their guests even before the guests asked for it 😉

Hmm … So how about the bedroom … Where’s the bed?

The bedroom is next to the living room where they separate it with doors, and the doors were opened when I was entered it. From the living room, it seemed the bed and the pillows looks really enticing and calling me over and over to sleep on it! Lol! Even though I haven’t tried the bed, I already knew how comfortable the bed is!

The bedroom is really wide as there’s only bed, a very comfy sofa beside the bed, another sofa in front of the bed which I used to put my luggage (oops), and another LCD TV. That’s it! That’s why the room looks spacious 🙂

Well … The bedroom looks great, but how about the bathroom … It’s just next to the bedroom, and wow! Look at the photo first!

Look at that very nice bathroom! And that rain shower! – at Club Executive Suite of Dusit Thani Manila (Philippines)

The bathroom itself has 3 parts! The first part is the one that I entered first, is the part for the sink and everything. The second part on the right [see photo above] is the bathtub and the shower, and it has the rain shower! Hallo!! Rain shower!! My favourite! The last part is on the left side which is for the wardrobe, and the dressing table.

Usually what I love to see in the bathroom when I stay in a hotel is the hotel toiletries. Is it a simple or ordinary ones, using branded products, or others? For Dusit Thani Manila they use the famous L’OCCITANE products for shower cream, shampoo, conditioner, and the lotion.

Oh do you know that they also cleaned your room not only once, but twice?

At first I really didn’t realize this, so how do I know it?

When I took a bath in the afternoon, I put the L’occitane shampoo in the shower area. When I returned to my room in the evening, I saw that L’occitane shampoo beside the other toiletries on the sink area. How could this shampoo move himself back to this place? 😮 But then I looked at the shower area, and I still saw the L’occitane shampoo that I put in the shower area in the afternoon. I then checked the other areas in my room and realized, wow they have cleaned the room again! Super nice! 🙂

The 16th floor is only one floor below the top floor. So the next thing that I love about staying in a hotel in a-high-floor-room is the view of the surrounding. Staying on the 16th floor in Dusit Thani Manila will surely give you this city view of Makati! You can see this every morning from your room! 🙂

This Club Executive Suite room is only three level below the Ambassador and Presidential Suite. Looking at what I got in Club Executive Suite, imagine what would you got if you stay in Ambassador or Presidential Suite? 😉

As a 5-stars hotel in Manila; Dusit Thani Manila has equipped herself with 3 outstanding restaurants with different theme. If you love Italian food, you can go to ‘tosca’, while if you love Japanese food, there’s ‘Umu’. For us, we had the opportunity to taste the third restaurant in Dusit Thani Manila that served Thai food. It is called ‘Benjarong’.

Benjarong! – a Thai restaurant in Dusit Thani Manila (Philippines)

‘Benjarong’ means ‘Five Colours’ or ‘porcelain ware painted in classical Thai design in five colour patterns’. I could see the porcelain ware at the entrance of the restaurant that is located in the Mezzanine level of Dusit Thani Manila. When I walked inside the restaurant, I could see that this is a very nice restaurant. They have lovely and neat settings of the tables and chairs, also the plates, cutlery, glasses and the flower on the table.

Myself and Kania were accompanied by Lizel Ventosa, Asst. Communications Manager of Dusit Thani Manila, during this lovely dinner. Lizel is very friendly! 🙂

We had several dishes to enjoy in the evening, and we started with a healthy salad called Pomelo salad. The salad was put inside of what Kania’s said, the mandarin orange! The orange is big enough to fit the salad in it, an interesting taste of a starter.

The next one would be the tasty tom yum gung soup, followed by the fish cake and the shrimp cake! The shrimp cake is Lizel’s daughter favourite, too bad I didn’t taste it as I don’t eat shrimp, and because of that we also ordered the fish cake for me! Lol …

The serving continued to the main dishes. The red curry duck and also the beef curry. I always love curries, and so these ones! 😉

The last one is the popular dish in Thai restaurant, and it’s like a must dish to try when you visited Thai restaurant. It’s the Pad Thai! Who doesn’t know Pad Thai? 😀

Oops, did I just say ‘the last one’?

Well apparently we still have dessert! I ordered the ice black jelly while Kania ordered the Thai version of Philippines national drink ‘Halo Halo’!

All dishes were delicious and lovely and tasty!

It was a wonderful evening in Benjarong. We had a good chat and laugh, and I’ve found out that myself and Lizel has the similar taste in TV series and movies! ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Resident Evil’, what else? Oh yes we talked about zombies in our dinner! Lol.

This was really a good closure of the first night in our stay in Dusit Thani Manila 🙂

With Lizel (left) and Benjarong restaurant manager … Lovely people! 🙂

I have talked about one of the restaurants in Dusit Thani Manila … So how about the breakfast?

As I said earlier, the guest of Club Executive Suite can choose to have their breakfast in their regular dining place on the ground floor (called Basix) or they can have their breakfast in the Club Lounge on the 17th floor. So we decided to try both, well not in the same day of course! 🙂

My first breakfast was in the Club Lounge.

Philippines - Manila - Dusit Thani - Club Lounge - The breakfast food (web)

The breakfast at the Club Lounge of Dusit Thani Manila (Philippines)

There’s not so much people there, so it’s more relaxing to have the breakfast in the Club Lounge, but there’s a catch. They only have limited dishes that are being served. I think the food that they have selected to be served here are already enough for me, especially the corned beef! Yummy yummy yummy! The taste is truly different when you try the corned beef that they made by themselves and from the can. This one definitely is an in-house corned beef! Lol.

The next morning, we tried the Basix on the ground floor. Although it has a lot more people in the room, but the restaurant is quite big to accommodate plenty of people in the room. It was definitely having more food than the one in Club Lounge, so more choices for the breakfast. With more selections of food here, I still got the corned beef for my breakfast! My favourite! Haha.

What is the next reason in choosing Dusit Thani Manila for your accommodation during your stay in Manila?

It’s because of the location!

The location of Dusit Thani Manila is strategically located near the shopping malls, not only one but 7 malls! Wait, let me list it down:

–          SM Mall

–          Glorietta

–          Greenbelt 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 (Yes Greenbelt has 5 malls!)

All malls are connected to each other! :3

Haha! So if you’re not sure where to go during your trip in Manila, you could just walk (the distance is very near, so it’s walkable from the hotel) to the malls. My favourite mall would be the Greenbelt. Not sure, which Greenbelt it is, but it’s kinda a semi-open air mall!

Now it’s your turn to experience it, and share your story 🙂

If you’re curious how Kania’s room looks like, you can check her blog post about the stay here.
