In my first post of this Phuket blog post series, I already told you, the trigger of my trip to Phuket. Yes, because I won a stay at Angsana Laguna Phuket for 3D2N from DestinAsian magazine. I did not even expect that I would win this prize, and I needed to wait for months until this trip became real in April 2015 haha!
I have looked at the Google Maps about the location of this Laguna area in Phuket Island, and apparently it was not near to the Patong area – the famous area in Phuket. I think I passed this place for about 1/3 of my trip from airport to Patong area on my first day in Phuket.
Apparently when I went there with Tuk-tuk from the Patong – yep I used Tuk-tuk, I could see that from the entrance of the Laguna, there are plenty of expensive resorts and hotels in this area. Usually the hotels / resorts occupies a large area in the laguna, including the place that I stayed – The Angsana Laguna Phuket.
The hotel lobby of Angsana Laguna Phuket
My friend and I, did not really realize the vast area of the hotel as we arrived at the hotel in the evening. But we did realize it as we needed to have a long walk from the reception area to our loft. From the reception, the staff escorted us to our room. We walked in some corridors passing the spa place and then walked downstairs to the lofts area that are built on the lake. There are some lofts on the lake, including mine, and luckily our loft was at the end of corridor.
Entering our One Bedroom Loft
When we opened the door of our loft, we were so wowed and excited that it was not just a room – yes it is a loft, so it has the living room on first floor, while the bedroom and bathroom located upstairs. Even there was a veranda overlooking the lake. In this floor there is also a mini pantry with drinks and snacks.
To be honest, at this moment, I was curious on how the lake looks like, as it was already dark.
We were still excited to see more of this loft so we walked upstairs to see our bedroom.
Wow, it was sooo nice! The room was using wooden floor, and the double bed was covered with a clean white sheet – not to mention that there were also four comfortable thick pillow! There is a working desk beside the stairs, well if you still want to work during the holiday haha … Err … okay I did work on this desk *oops*
When I saw the thick curtain on the right side of the bedroom, I thought it was just a window, but apparently there is a balcony there!
So now … how’s the bathroom looks like?
I could imagine that there would be a rain shower and a bathtub side by side … almost right!
When I walked inside the bathroom … I was amazed again on how big this bathroom is! It’s like there are 3 parts of the bathroom haha … First would be the area with the sink and the closet at the centre, then on the left side is the shower room – with the rain shower type, and on the right side is the bathtub – with the rain shower too. Well the bathtub part is unique, as there is no roof! So it’s like relaxing on a bathtub at the outdoor haha.
Curious about how the looks of the lagoon
The first thing I opened when I woke up in the morning was of course the curtain to my balcony – as I was curious on the lake since the night before haha!
Apparently there are many lofts built around the lake, and it looks like from the other hotels too, not just Angsana.
The lake is quite big, that is why, Angsana has some small jetty with some shuttle boat, so it can take the guests to just circle around the lake or to take them somewhere they want. Unfortunately I did not try ride that shuttle boat.
The place is huge, so here’s the map!
I did mention that Angsana Laguna Phuket occupied a vast area of the Laguna area that is why they already prepare a map, so the guests would not get lost inside the hotel complex haha. From the map, we could see our way to the swimming pool, some restaurants, including the Market Place, and the beach – yes, so not only Angsana has the lake and swimming pool, but it also has a beach too!
Talking about the Laguna area, as this area is quite big and there is actually no public transportation inside the area, the hotel also provides a shuttle car to take you anywhere in the Laguna area, or to the entrance / exit gate. I used the shuttle car several times when I wanted to go outside the laguna, and it was a walking distance from the gate to the main road, where you can find some shops and café / restaurants.
Many restaurants inside
Market Place is one of the restaurants inside Angsana Laguna Phuket. Other main restaurants at Angsana Laguna Phuket, are Baan Talay with its Thai food and Bodega & Grill with the Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Market Place is the place where I had my breakfast. It’s a buffet style with plenty variations of the food.
The Market Place, it’s a place for your breakfast
While there are plenty of seats indoor, but you can always have your breakfast outside, beside the lake.
The poolside beside the swimming pool
They also have another restaurant called the Poolside. Well you can guess immediately the location of the restaurant. Yep, just beside the swimming pool … Lol.
And talking about the swimming pool … Angsana has some swimming pool, including the one with sand and tree – a similar look to the beach. The other swimming pool is not just a square pool, but more to like a ‘river’ that will flow beside the hotel buildings. In fact, if your room is located on the ground floor of the building (different building with the lofts) and just beside the pool, I think you can just plunge yourself to the swimming pool haha.
I did try to explore this swimming pool. I was curious where this pool took me. I thought it would take me to around the hotel, but it was not haha!
Catch the sunset from the beach
The beach is my favourite place during the afternoon when the day is not that hot.
There were plenty of chairs on the beach provided by Angsana Laguna Phuket, but I preferred seating on the sand 🙂
Watching the sun set from here was just like a good closure of the day!
Thanks DestinAsian Magazine for the prize!
Looking forward for another prize from you 😀
