Myself and Yudhi are moviegoers, and during our trip to Australia, we scheduled some time to watch movies, where we managed to watch Hobbit, Les Misérables, and Argo!
Why do we care to watch movies during a trip to Australia? Didn’t we have something else to do/see besides watching movies? Well, we have some reasons for that
‘The LG IMAX Theatre Sydney is home to the World’s Biggest Screen’ is the first sentence when I did a Google search for ‘IMAX Sydney’.
We also have IMAX in Indonesia, but the words ‘World’s Biggest Screen’ is really enticing! And yes the screen is really big! That’s why they don’t put seats on the lowest levels of the studio as the distance would be really close with the screen! Even Yudhi said that the gollum face became bigger and it seemed really close to his face! Lol.
Although they have the biggest screen in the world, it seems their seats are less compare to the IMAX Indonesia (correct me if I’m wrong). I think I’ve counted that they only have 10 rows and 60 seats for the longest width (from left to right).
As this is the IMAX theatre only, so it doesn’t show regular films like any other theatres. That’s why when there’s not much IMAX movies, they also show documentary movies.
Dendy Cinemas is located near the Sydney Opera House, and we decided to watch Les Misérables here. The movie is really a good match with our day as we spent the day in Sydney Opera House doing a tour and watching a show
Moreover, our fellow moviegoers in Jakarta already watched this movie while we’re in Australia!
Nothing much in the theatre itself, but we’re quite confuse that there’s no seats number in our tickets! Apparently it’s a free seating, lol! And surprisingly the theatre was quite full! Luckily we still got seats quite in the middle row. Phiew!
Chauvel Cinema is my favourite theatre compare to the other two; not because of the technology or the screen, but more of the building and their interior design! Lol …
I love it the first time I entered their lounge area.
It’s so comfy, and it’s so … vintage! Well, I’m not the expert of interior design, so hopefully I’m right to categorize their interior design as vintage style. The decoration is so simple, but very nice. I also love the lighting in their lounge area
The location of this cinema is actually not in the city. It’s in Paddington, which is the suburb area of Sydney, and quite close to Bondi beach. So why we chose this cinema instead of other cinemas in the city? Well, that’s because we planned to visit Bondi beach on that day, and we wanted to watch Argo! Yes the Argo which won the Best Picture in Oscar 2013!
So here are some pictures from Chauvel Cinema that I love!
