This is the second part about my trip to Singapore to watch the Formula 1 Night Race – Singapore Grand Prix. This post is not all about the Formula 1, but more to the entire event happened during the Saturday night on 22 September 2012

After we got really bored just sitting on the Padang field without doing anything; we then decided to move to Esplanade area to find something to eat for dinner.

I heard from my friends that The Pretenders would perform at On The Waterfront stage in front of the Esplanade. We thought, it’s okay to come a bit late for The Pretenders performance, but apparently the seat was already FULL! Yes, full, even some people were standing at the back to watch The Pretenders; but my friend, Lidya, managed to get a seat in the middle! Then, we decided not to watch it, and just going to take some photos of the surrounding.

I asked Lidya for the photos of The Pretenders performance that night. Looking at the photos, it seemed that the show was great, and I wish that I was there to watch them performed. Sad sad sad … ;(

While Lidya was watching The Pretenders; my other friends (Yudhi ,Kania, and Wito) watched the famous Bananarama at The Padang stage. It’s not even possible for us to go back to The Padang and watch them haha!

We then just walked further to near The Makansutra Gluttons Bay and took some photos of Marina Bay Sands and the skyscrapers in the Raffles Place area. My cousin not only brought the tele-lense, but he also brought a tripod so he could get a good picture of the buildings during the night. He even tried to use my camera with his tripod to compare the result . He decided to stay there for a little longer to get better pictures of the lights on the MBS building, while I headed to The Makansutra area to grab some food.

The Makansutra was quite a popular place as the eating place there, and perhaps the only food court near The Esplanade. I used to eat here a couple of times before, and I knew normally it’s crowded, but not as crowded as this night. That night, Makansutra was super crowded; we even needed to share a table with someone else. Not only the table was hard to get, but the queue in some of the food stall was super long!! I couldn’t believe that I needed to queue for 15 – 30 minutes there! Haha …

Dinner was done, some concert was over, then it’s time for the Formula 1 Qualifying Round!

For me … As I’m not a big fan of Formula 1, I only snapped 3 or more photos of the racing cars, then I just lost interest of it lol … So I just walked back and sit on the pavement while waiting for my cousin. As I said in the previous post, he’s a big fan of Formula 1.

Maroon 5 show started at 11 PM, and The Padang area already filled with the crowd! We tried to squeeze in to get a better spot. Even though if you standing in the front of the non-Fanzone area, you’re still standing in the middle of the Padang field. That means, it’s not really close to the stage haha! It’s impossible for me to take photos from where we stood, without a tele-lense. But, my cousin did get some photos of Maroon 5!!! Nice …

The show was great, they sang some of the songs from their new album ‘Overexposed’, and my friend Kania managed to take note of the songs that they performed on the night. And … unfortunately for this night, Adam Levine didn’t take off all of his shirt *lol* )))

The show was shorter than their usual concert I believe, as it’s only about one hour, but I enjoyed it!

I can’t believe that Adam Levine flew all the way to Singapore while he’s being one of the coach at The Voice! Great artist!!

Definitely, that day was a very exhausting day, from the afternoon to the evening, and one of the experience that I won’t forget

And what amazed me with the Formula 1 Night Race Singapore Grand Prix organizer was that they’ve already sent out an offer to buy the SUPER early bird ticket from 19 – 30 September 2012 for the Singapore Grand Prix 2013
