This series of Kinabalu trip was actually from my previous blog which I transferred here, and revised a little bit …
This Kinabalu trip was a 5D/4N trip from 24 – 29 December 2009. It’s a big family trip, that was my family and other relatives too. For this trip, we didn’t book a tour either from Jakarta or Singapore. We decided to find a tour in Kota Kinabalu.
That time I was still in Singapore, so my brother and I flew from Singapore to Kota Kinabalu in the afternoon using AirAsia, whilst my parents and other relatives flew from Jakarta.
For your information, Kota Kinabalu is located in East Malaysia, which is in Borneo Island. It’s famous with hiking activity in Mount Kinabalu, snorkeling, diving, and many other things.
As we arrived in Kota Kinabalu at night (24 December 2009), so we went straight to the hotel, to unpack our things, and had dinner. Our accommodation were one condo and one hotel room. Most of us stayed in the condo, named Marina Court Resort Condominium, which has 3 rooms, and my uncle’s family stayed in one hotel room, Promenade Hotel, which located beside the apartment.
It’s Christmas’ eve
There’s a choir singing Christmas songs at the lobby of the hotel, so we went there first to watch their performance before we headed for dinner. And … I kinda forgot where we had dinner at that time …

. 25 Dec 2009 .
We started the day with having breakfast near our condo. The location of the condo is quite nice. Nearby, we could find a complex of shop house and some restaurants. Surprisingly there’re many Korean restaurants there
For breakfast this time, we chose Indian food. I had prata bread with curry and ice teh tarik.
After having our breakfast, we’re looking for a travel agent in that complex to see what kind of tour that they have … But apparently most of tour and travel agents were closed on Christmas day …
So we tried our luck to find a tour in the Promenade hotel, and yes they provided tours! But … unfortunately, all of the tours were full, except the city tour … err …
Anyway, we decided to book a tour for the next day to Mount Kinabalu Park.
Had lunch
Beside the condo, there’s another of shopping complex with one shopping centre in it, called ‘Warisan Square.’
For lunch, we went to Sin Wang restaurant, a Hong Kong restaurant.
Took some pictures (again)
Our condo is located in front of the pier, so yeah it has a very nice. If I’m not mistaken, there’s a wet market in here with some restaurants.
Going to the mall
After walking around, we found that there’s a shuttle bus (inside the shopping complex with ‘Warisan Square’ in it) to the biggest mall in Kinabalu called 1borneo. So why not going to the mall, and see what’s in it
Some of us decided to play bowling, while the others went for shopping
We still had sometime before we went for dinner. We spotted a karaoke place near the bowling venue! Haha! Yeap, it’s better than nothing to do!
So after karaoke, dinner at the food court, then we waited for the shuttle bus to go back to the shopping complex.
